About Maryland Day

Established in 1999, Maryland Day is the University of Maryland’s largest community outreach event. The campus-wide celebration includes over 400 free activities, performances and demonstrations that showcase the arts, sports, student and faculty research, UMD’s agricultural roots and much more.

Whether you’re a current student or prospective student, faculty or staff member, graduate, fan, or member of the surrounding community, Maryland Day has something for everyone.

AG DAY AVENUE

Explore what makes Maryland farming and wildlife unique. Help plant a green wall or take home a seedling of your own. Enjoy a free sample of ice cream from the Maryland Dairy and learn how you could hatch a career in agriculture. Don’t miss the horse show and riding demonstrations at the Campus Farm.

ART & DESIGN PLACE

Here, creative ideas come to life and stories are told. Learn the fundamentals of painting or move and groove to the music at a dance workshop. Have fun with words, learn about languages all over the world and discover the power of literature.

SCIENCE & TECH WAY

Have you ever seen a tarantula up close? Can you solve mind-bending math brain teasers? Chat with our racecar competition teams and ask an astronomer anything. Be blown away by the power of UMD’s wind tunnel and marvel at the innovations taking place right here in our backyard.

SPORTS & REC ROW

Come to where the fearless climb the wall at Eppley, brave the Gymkana obstacle course and give log rolling a try. Learn what it takes to create a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and our communities.

TERP TOWN CENTER

Terp pride and celebration collide at the heart of campus: McKeldin Mall. Meet the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Find a spot near the Main Stage to enjoy music, performances and a huge array of food. Learn about our schools and colleges, then take a campus tour.
